The diagram below illustrates the design phase vs. the development phase which is often a distinction that needs to be made in on order to understand the boundary and relationships between the two. In the context of cadCAD, the work by the design team beginning with requirements, moving to model design, and then to validation through simulations, is not to be confused with the subsequent work of the development team. The design work informs the development work. When utilizing cadCAD, the “Digital Twin” created in the design phase serves as a computational representation, containing algorithms informing the implementation and development, and it also serves as a tool, post-launch, capable of providing future monitoring and decision support for the life of the system.
